P.R.E.S.S. Foundation is a faith-inspired California nonprofit public benefit corporation established to provide full-circle, holistic housing and supportive programs. Founded by Crystal Downey, a human-services professional with over 32 years of hands-on experience, our mission stems from a lifelong commitment to children, adolescents, families, and communities.

Having served across residential care, juvenile justice, behavioral facilities, and transitional housing, Crystal witnessed firsthand the profound struggles people face during critical life transitions. She also saw the undeniable power of consistent guidance, clear structure, and unconditional compassion. Out of those experiences—and the faith required to endure personal and professional trials—the P.R.E.S.S. vision was born.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

Our foundational framework serves as a reminder that pressure does not have to break us. With the right support, it reveals deep inner strength and builds character. We live and operate by these five guiding principles:

• R – Refocus on God to align your attention with your true purpose.

• E – Endure hard circumstances, knowing they slow progress but do not stop your destiny.

• S – Stand Firm in faith and trust your journey, even when the future seems uncertain.

• S – Surrender to the Lord your fears and struggles, trusting Him to reveal what comes next.

We operate strictly from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and youth-centered philosophy. We actively involve our participants in the choices that shape their futures, helping them step completely away from environmental pressures and march confidently toward their true purpose.
